Stacey Steele My Story: I had seen the effects poor health had on several members of my family  and I even had an eating disorder of my own.  i had been all over the map with my weight since i was young. I started weight watchers at 14 (size 14, age 14) with my mother. i've struggled with diet and exercise for years and finally decided it was time to take matters into my own hands! the struggle was tough – my family history was that of obesity, high blood pressure, kidney failure, diabetes…you get the idea.  I went through some major female health issues a few years ago - doctors thought i had ovarian cancer - thank god i did (and do) not! but laying in the hospital bed put things into clear focus for me.  I decided again to focus more on health and fitness. I started studying weight training and nutrition on my own and decided to get certified so that not only could i help myself, but others as well. Having an understanding of where my clients are coming from helps me teach from a whole different perspective. it also really helps them to know that i used to be unhealthy and i really do understand the struggles of their daily routines. i truly love being and feeling healthy and i love my ability to teach others how to do the same. I have become a personal trainer, national fitness trainer and group fitness instructor with a true passion for health and fitness.  I love to help people achieve their goals on a daily basis.   My FAME Story:  I saw an ad on onemodelplace.com to help FAME/WNSO in Hollywood, FL with a vending booth at an upcoming fitness competition. Who knew this would be the start of my career as a fitness model?!!   FAME needed someone to help man their table at the show. i got the job. While there, shannon lucier, the event coordinator, asked me to also help backstage. Imagine that! there i was, an out of shape, out of work trainer who had never even attended a fitness show. Now i got to help run one! how cool. I met many wonderful athletes and got the inspiration i needed to get my butt in gear. I thank julie, maggie and sylvia and a few other awesome athletes for suggesting over and over again that i should compete!  Soon after i was healthy and competing on the FAME stage! my first contest was a practice show in ft lauderdale on march 10th, 2007. i then went on to place eighth in my class at another recent FAME show for fitness and bikini modeling...i still have a lot of work to do, but i just keep on moving in the right direction.After working with many motivational people and seeing firsthand what some of the other competitors had been through, i realized that anyone can compete that has a strong will, determination and is willing to commit to lots of hard work.  and there is NO BETTER HIGH than setting your goals and seeing them through, especially with FAME!  I love this organization - they truly gave me my start in the fitness modeling world and now i'm well on my way to being a successful fitness model! Interesting Fact: I am also the lead singer for the classic rock band "contraband".  I work part time with the rock of love foundation, a non profit organization that puts together events to raise money for children with life threatening illnesses. They hold monthly events and concerts that i mc/host and sing at!  I've even tried my hand at stand up comedy and improvisational sketch comedy!  Next i'll be auditioning for some big things...but i can't tell you yet! and there's plenty more to come...so stay tuned! My Story: I haven't always been athletic. I was always super skinny and I ate horrible. Then I went to college and suddenly weight starts packing on. My high metabolism has changed. I went up to 145 pds. I decided in 2nd year to start to work out. I used the school gym and started to lift weights. I really had no idea what I was doing, but I knew I liked it. My friend worked at a gym and gave me a great deal on a gym membership. I guess you can say this is when it really all began. I loved working out so much that I went and got my personal training certification. I wanted to learn more.
 I met a local trainer and started working out with him to get that extra motivation. My friend and I did a group session with him once a week. He even got us ready for our first fitness model show the FAME Centrals in April 2005. When I leaned down I realized that I wanted to build a lot more muscle.  I started to work with another trainer who worked with a lot of figure/bodybuilders. He got me in great shape for a couple more shows including FAME World's in June and FAME Halloween Mayhem. It became too far for me to travel so I stopped training with him at the end of 2005. I missed the stage. It had been 2 years, so I decided that I was going to compete in my first figure competition which was a lot different from fitness modeling. My trainer bulked me up to 173 pds and 26% bf. I was never this big and hated it. But I listened to her because I really wanted to gain some quality size. I had a hard time losing all the fat. I had to do double cardio 45 min 2x a day, lifting weights 5x a week and eating very little. I did this for over 5 months to get me ready. I was exhausted. But the day came and I was proud to get onstage. I placed 5th out of 15. I was very happy with my placing but didn't love gaining so much fat.
 I decided this time around I am going to work with a new trainer. He plans on keeping me under 15% body fat during my off season so that it will be easier for the fat to come off when I diet down; his name is Darrin Robinson from Emerge. He is the supportive and motivating type of trainer, and I think I really need that push. His website is www.timetoemerge.com.  I also wanted to mention that within the 6 months I have been working with him I have stayed at 12.5% bf and have gained 12pds of lean mass and 2 pds of fat. I started with him at 132pds, i am now approx 150. I am eating twice as many calories as I have in the past and am seeing amazing results; lots of yummy carbs, and no cardio. Can I repeat that for everyone - NO CARDIO!!! I have gained 12pds of lean mass and just 2 pds of fat. It is amazing!!!  I eat 6x a day with his program. Foods are chicken, eggs, egg whites, lean steak. Carbs can be oats, ww breads, pastas.... I also eat moderate amount of good fats.

Always seek advice from trained professionals that have your best interests. We always think negative thoughts about our own body. You need someone to step out and look at you and judge you.  And always have fun. Even when i was exhausted, I still had fun. My Story: I'm 33 a new mom having recently had my second child. Although I've always been in great shape, having two babies under the age of 2 has made working out a challenge. Entering this competition gives me a goal that I'll have to find time for, whether it means getting up at 5am or staying up till midnight. I hope to inspire moms, young & old and let them know that having children doesn't mean having to give up your body. Friends told me about this event. I'd like to attend for mostly for the experience and also believe I'll gain a sense of accomplishment.  My Story: “Growing up, I was overweight through my school years, I battled with a low self-esteem and remained slightly overweight and soft even up until the past year. Eight years ago, I married an incredibly wonderful man, my one and only love ( we grew up together )... whom always was incredibly athletic and went on to become a Physiotherapist and Trainer... He has always encouraged me to work-out and be active, but I know that I never made the decision to do that for me, until just recently. After having two children close together, I've finally made the decision to eat clean, train harder than I've ever imagined I could train and reach my ultimate goal of fitness! We are adopting two more children from Ethiopia, and while we wait to go there and bring them home, I vowed to compete at a FAME competition first! But along the road, I fell in love with this standard of living healthfully and want to always be someone my children can look up to as a healthy example in their lives. My husband and I are more in love than ever before and we're both so thankful for the great health we share together!!! I was also seriously motivated by my mom..As I was growing up, she was always overweight, 7 yrs ago, she lost 50+pounds, and has maintained and strong and active lifestyle!!  Marilyn St. Hill

Marilyn began competing in fitness/bodybuilding competitions to lose the forty pounds she gained during her pregnancy. (She is now the proud mother of a four-year-old little girl). She continued to compete because of all the great people she met, who had the same interests and disciplines as her.  Marilyn gets her motivation from the beautiful, strong women she competes against and her daughter.  Marilyn currently models part time, and is the co owner of her own contracting company.  She has made guest appearances and has been featured in broadcast, film, video and print media.  Two years ago I started down the fitness competition road with Diana Chaloux, but let the excuse of not having money stop me. She had her Aha moment, but I had not. After two years, I stepped on the scale and had gained 23 lbs. since college ended. I didn't look out of shape, but I didn't like the way I felt at 183 lbs. 
 When Diana called to tell me she was having her own show, the Diana Chaloux FAME South Central Championships in San Antonio, it was just perfect timing. My Aha moment happened. In my mind it was Now or never! My motivation to compete comes from knowing in 10 weeks I can look and feel the same as I did at 183 lbs, or I can push my boundaries and transform my mind and body! My Story: I've always been a nerd. I've always put my career first and I never had time for anything else. I dated a bodybuilder at one point and I thought he was crazy to measure is food and hit the weights like he did. He offered to train me but I didn't want to, I was afraid I was going to get too big!!! Well when we broke up I had a lot of free time and I decided to start lifting, nobody ever told me how addictive it was. It felt great, DOMS the day after and the pump got me going at first but after a while people would just tell me how happy I was. When the following summer came and I didn't feel like hiding under a big beach towel I realized that this lifestyle was for me. It just felt so great I didn't want to stop. I was that girl that thought that figure girls are too muscular and that never thought I could get in shape! That nobody could get a body like that naturally... I've learned my lesson and did the work and now, at 31, I'm that girl!!!! 

I went to see the FAME show last year when my training partner and friend Isabelle Galarneau did it and it looked like so much fun. She told me it was a great federation and that I should just go for it. After my first show in November I told my coach about it and we've been prepping ever since.

Those choices have placed her in the position she is currently in, fighting for her dreams and not letting anything or anyone stand in the way of them.
 Three years ago Tamara realized her life needed to change. She was unhappy with who she had become. She joined a local gym but found it hard to commit. She was overweight and lacked self confidence. Weighing in at 238lbs and disgusted with how she looked a it was proof that she had let herself go. It took a year and a half to really stick to a gym routine and eat healthier. In 6 months she managed to drop her weight to 180lbs. Tamara realized she needed a goal. “It was really easy to just say I was going to do something and never do it, I needed something to look forward to, something to strive for” 
 As of May 1st of this year she has been training for FAME WEST 2008 in Vancouver B.C at the Centennial Theatre in the Muscle Category. When she first got involved, “I didn’t have a lot of support. A lot of people questioned my abilities including my family which was very hard to cope with. Their opinions made me second guess my decision”. However she turned their disappointing words into motivation and in 6 weeks her results were better than she ever expected.  Losing 12lbs, gained 10lbs of muscle, lost 9% body fat and a total of 17 inches.   In a total of 6 months, she lost 40lbs and 32% body fat. ‘It is very hard to believe that the in the middle of last year I was stuffing my face full of sweets and garbage food, weighing n at 238lbs and now here I stand at 133lbs. In the last year I have successfully lost 105lbs” Six days a week you will find Tamara in the gym and everyday eating clean. At 25 years old she never thought that she would be getting involved in this industry. Setting short term and long term goals that, she can’t wait to accomplish. Tamara’s trainer , FAME Pro, Jason Ste. Marie is a daily reminder that anything is possible. She is confident that she will make him, and more importantly herself, very proud.

Story: After retiring last year (summer 06) from a 14 yr career fighting in Taekwondo (4th degree black belt), I took on the challenge of competing as a fitness model, motivated to do so from the fitness models I saw in Oxygen mag. I am now in my third year of competition for Figure and looking forward to competing at a World level. I have had 2 very successful years of competition taking away with me 2 Ms. Figure OVERALL State shows and an Australian Title. Not only do I love getting on stage and all the fun on show day however I really enjoy my journey to actually making it! I really enjoy the hard work, discipline and determination you need to be your best. When I compete I ensure that I am in my best possible condition and I have done everything in my power to do well!  Well, I came from a little town in south texas and all I got for exercise was riding my show horses. I was 40 pounds over weight by the time I was 16 and didn't realize it until someone got upset with me one day and called me fat. At that moment I looked down at myself and sadly realized she was right and I needed to do something about it. I started with what I knew and that was to cut calories and exercise; which meant running to me. Within, 4 months I went from a size 9-12 to a 4. It was drastic change for me and I became for lack of better words obsessed. At 18 I had been so focused that if I did happen to have a cheat meal or eat a little too much I would do something about it and without realizing it I became bulimic. I fought with that for 1 1/2 years and kept it a secret from everyone. At 18 I started college and decided I needed to change my ways and actually become healthy and not just skinny. I had seen women in fitness magazines and one woman in particular on the cover of Victoria Secret that gave me hope and a goal to reach. 

I hired a Personal Trainer here in San Antonio, Patricia Jentsch of WellFit Group of San Antonio. She helped me jump start my new healthy life style and helped me become a personal trainer myself. If it hadn’t been for her I wouldn’t be where I am today. It has taken me 2 years to gain 35 pounds of lean muscle mass and become the healthiest I have been.
 I try to inspire everyone but my main focus is on young women and men that are going or have gone through the same problems that I faced. It is so incredibly hard to overcome being bulimic by yourself because it is a frame of mind. It is mainly guilt that makes you have urges to do that and when you have someone that takes the time to understand your predicament and help you re-teach yourself, in essence, it makes a world of difference.
 I am motivated to compete because when I was 14, I was told by a modeling agency that I would never make it in any modeling type of work because I was too short. Well I am here to tell you that anyone can do anything when they put their minds to it! Also, it has been a goal of mine for a long time, I used to show Palomino horses in a similar body building fashion called halter, so now its my turn to make the rounds of the arena and see what I have. Plus, I am a hard worker and I like to push myself to new limits. Seeing the results of your hard work paying off is indescribable. Even if someone competes and does not win, they are still a winner and amazing for pushing themselves to reach this goal.

 Hometown: Fairfield, CT (born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Road to FAME: It was a goal I set for myself a year and a 1/2 ago when I started working out.  
My Story: After the birth my second child, I had postpartum depression. And even though I bounced right back to my pre-pregnancy weight, I didn't feel good about myself. At 26, I was a mother of two children under 3, and working full-time (I'm a high school teacher) with no time for myself. For the first two years following my daughter's birth, I was always in an awful mood, constantly yelling at my husband and children. It wasn't until my marriage started falling apart that I decided I needed a change. I started therapy and my doctor highly recommended a physical activity. At first, I joined the gym because of the dance classes they offered. I had danced all my life back in my native country, and figured that would help me relieve the stress. At the gym, I made new friends who helped me with the training and who inspired me to give my best. I also started reading fitness magazines to educate myself on exercise and nutrition. As I saw my body's "transformation", my self esteem sky rocketed, my whole demeanor changed. I can honestly say that I became a better person. Definitely a better mother, since I now have more patience and energy to cope with the demands of parenthood!!!

My Story I grew up as a dancer and once I hit the old age for competitive dancing I needed to find a new sport. I started competing in 2005, after about 10 years of saying I was going to do a show. I entered my first figure competition that year. I have been hooked ever since. I then switch to fitness in 2006 & placed 2nd in my first show, the Sandra Wickham Fall Classic. I was set to do the BC's July 2007. However, in April 2007 I learned that I was a match to donate a kidney to my father. So the surgery happened April 17, 2007. Not 6 months after this surgery I was back competing in figure at the 2007 Washington Ironman Fitness & Figure Show. I placed 2nd. I am not determined more than ever to prove that anyone can come back from major surgery & continue to strive for their dreams. So I guess you could say that my dad's new found health & happiness is what motivates me to continue training & competing.

My Story:  had a quad accident and almost died, was in the hospital over 4 months and while I was in there I thought about my life and what I wanted. When I walked out of the hospital I wanted to be a different person and so I did. That's when I started eating healthy and using my cane to get back into exercising and now I am following my dream in competing!!! Oxygen magazine inspired me to keep going and to follow my dream(I received them monthly in the mail, and mom would bring them to me while I was in the hospital!!!)

 My Story: I am blessed to work and play in the fitness industry! As a full time personal trainer I get paid to share my fitness knowledge and lead my clients to get fit and have fun! My play time is in the preparation to step on the FAME stage! What makes me unique is that I am a teacher and mentor to my clients and @ the same time always a student. I believe there is always a new way or a different way to achieve something, and through personal experience have learned to build momentum on your strengths and learn from your mistakes and most of all enjoy the whole journey! 
Road to FAME: I started competing after watching my trainer compete @ the nationals and thought 'I can see myself up there!' and after my first show, I was hooked! I love learning what my body and mind are capable of. i love meeting and learning new ways to train and eat from other competitors and enjoy making lifelong friends with like minded people through competing world wide!

TARA MERKO
 My name is Tara Merko and I am a Personal Fitness Trainer and have been for just under a decade. I have not always been in tip top shape--I’ve had my ups and downs. Because of those, however, it has inspired me to keep bettering myself whether it be physically or mentally. Everyone I surround myself with motivates, inspires and supports me and my goals, but the ones that really give me inspiration are my clients. Although during our sessions it is me who is the motivator, after seeing what they achieve, they motivate me. This is why I am, and will continue to be, in the fitness industry as well as it being a major part of my life.

I have alway wanted to compete in a competition, but I never knew which category would suit me best. I tried my first bikini contest last year and although I didn't win, it was an awesome experience and journey. Doing something like this is what keeps me motivated and to have a reason, other than to be healthy, to workout hard.

My Story I'm an experienced dancer and fitness instructor/ Personal Trainer, who has touched on many aspects of the fitness industry. My inspiration is Jamie Eason, as her Success story is moving and relatable to myself. I struggled with anorexia for six years and have made it my personal goal to compete and hopefully achieve a modeling contract to gain exposure. By completing this competition I will prove to myself I can achieve anything I put my mind to!

I used to work for Magnum Nutraceuticals, and In April 2007 I worked back stage the event doing promotions. I realized I wanted to be onstage, rather than behind the curtains. From that day on, I began to prepare for the following year.

My Story: I was in a car accident in 2000 and was very injured. I did an active rehab program which started me working out a lot. Then in 2004 I had neck surgery due to the car accident. I truly believe that me being so fit and working out has contributed to me having a full recovery. Before the surgery I lived on Tylenol 3's to get through my days. Although I have arthritis in my back, I don't suffer too much because of my healthy lifestyle. Now that I am healthy and fit , and after seeing some of my friends compete, I am inspired to do these competitions.

My Story After reading an issue of FAME magazine I began to ask questions to anyone and everyone I knew at the gym. I talked to ABBA competitors, fitness models, friends that worked out at the gym regularly on how to get into competing. During one of these conversations, a very good friend of mine mentioned the name Annette MIlbers and pulled up her webpage on my computer. I was sold! Annette emanates everything I would love to achieve with fitness, determination and grace. I emailed Annette asking her questions on how where to start as well as telling her that she was my inspiration to compete. She was full of class, and so incredibly humble and open...To this day I haven't ever met Annette face to face but will be the first to introduce myself with thanks and gratitude if our paths ever cross! She is a true inspiration!
 My Motivation: My motivation comes from a desire to discover my mind and body's potential with training and diet. I am learning so much about myself throughout this process and it is is a journey I embrace and endure. 

The unconditional support and constant encouragement from friends and family had been a true inspiration as well and help me get through those sometimes difficult days. I believe in the positive evolution of oneself and this experience has me evolving in ways mentally, physically and spiritually in more ways than I ever imagined! Trainer: Dan Fedeluk
 Referred by: A few years ago I had the opportunity to meet and speak with fitness photographer David Ford at Jen Hendershott's Phat Camp. David and I talked fitness, competing and modeling. He had mentioned FAME to me. I then came across a FAME magazine at the gym I belonged to at the time and became intrigued and excited. I wanted to become a part of this amazing sport...and here I am preparing for my first FAME show!

My Story My motivation to compete came after I finished an 18 year competitive dance career. I once again got the itch to be on stage and since fitness has become such an important part of my life I thought competing in fitness would be the perfect opportunity to give myself a new goal. 

I also work as a personal trainer in the very little spare time that I have between full time school and work, and I find it very rewarding to offer motivation to others and to help people achieve what they may not have thought possible. I placed 3rd a the 2007 FAME Halloween Mayhem in Windsor.
