OVERVIEW: FAME Fitness offers dancers, gymnasts, skaters, cheerleaders, martial artists, aerobics instructors and yoga enthusiasts and other exceptionally fit women of all ages and experience levels an opportunity to model their physique and demonstrate their strength, balance, flexibility, endurance, personality, and creative flair.

Fitness is an excellent opportunity for natural athletes to participate in a competitive sport beyond college and high school.  It is also great for those of us who were never athletic and want to aspire to a new goal.

THE LOOK:  You will notice there is not one specific type of look that excels in this category Rather it is the overall package and how well your leanness, tone and fitness level complements your skeletal structure, personality and physique.

There are 2 Rounds of Competition:

1st:  SYMMETRY ROUND (40%)

Athletes select their own 2 piece swimsuit for this round.  They should pay attention to styles, colors, patterns and fits that flatter and accentuate their fit body - and perhaps hide any flaws.  Standard footwear are high heeled shoes.

TIPS:

Athletes often get their
swimsuit custom fit to help accentuate their attributes. Crystals and rhinestones also dress up an outfit and make them shine under the lights.

Heels should be a height that best display calves but not at the expense of a comfortable, confident walk. Clear bottoms are ideal to keep judges attention focused on the physique rather than being drawn downwards to the shoes.

The Symmetry Round from Fitness follows the same format as the Swimsuit Round of the
Fitness Model Search.  So to increase your exposure and maximize your competition experience, consider entering the Fitness Model Search category as well which does not have a routine, just an extra modeling round.

Impressing the Judges:  Overall, judges are looking for good muscle tone, posture and symmetry; confidence, charisma, projection and exceptional style on stage; ability to pose in interesting, photographable ways; lean body composition; great stage presence; an attractive, healthy, vibrant look that could be realistically marketable in the industry; style & fluidity of walk and turns; attractiveness, marketability and general impression; and clothing that properly highlights their fit physique.

The body should be balanced and symmetrical (eg. upper vs lower body, front vs back, ratio of chest to hips). Abs should be visible or somewhat visible, but striations and vascularity should be minimal.  There is not a specific percentage of body fat or musculature that is ideal for this category, rather it's what best suits that athlete as per their skeletal structure and frame.

Judges are also looking for a vibrant, healthy look; a great attitude; impeccable grooming; and good outfit selection which accentuates both the physique and athlete personality. Athletes must appear comfortable on stage and should be much more relaxed, unlike their bodybuilding and figure counterparts who assume a more rigid stance.

Please Note: Excessive muscularity, striation and vascularity are not the ideals for this category. Athletes should maintain their femininity.

2nd:  ROUTINE ROUND (60%)

This round gives athletes the opportunity to perform a two-minute athletic routine choreographed to music of their choice. The routine should demonstrate athleticism, personality, creativity and overall entertainment.

Routines should be unique and perfectly choreographed to wow the audience, judges, media and sponsors! Props, themes &/or costumes are allowed and encouraged if they add to the overall performance.

The entire routine should be fluid, well choreographed and make use of the whole stage. High energy and the wow factor should be maintained from start to finish.

Depending on the show the routine may or may not be performed during the initial judging

Attire: For the Routine Round athletes are expected to be creative. The point is to entertain the audience so elaborate costumes and themes are the norm. This is your time to play and enjoy!!  Footwear is optional. Thongs and outfits that may seem overly provocative can result in a deduction of points.

Stage Size: Generally events have a stage no smaller than 24 by 30 wide. Sometimes they are a lot larger. When practicing your routine, come prepared to modify if necessary to fit the stage dimensions. You may also contact the show promoter in advance to find out the dimensions if they are not listed on the site.

FITNESS DIVISIONS:

Divisions are based on the following criteria. You may compete in as many divisions as you fit.

Experience:
There is a 6-Level Tier System for all FAME World Tour competitions.
Click here for details to see how you can advance towards attaining your Pro Status.

Height:
Athletes competing in Level 3 and beyond can be divided into height classes when there are at least 6 athletes in a class. Generally the cut off is 5'2" & under // over 5'2" to 5'6" // over 5'6". In an event where there is a big skew of athletes the height cutoff may be altered to more evenly divide up the classes.

Age:
Athletes of all ages are welcome to compete in the experience class.   However, if you are 35 years or older you have the option to compete in the Masters class. Winners of the Masters move on to become a FAME Pro to compete in the Masters Pro Class. Some contests will have a Junior Class (18 years & under) which only includes the Routine component.

Singles or Pairs:
Fitness athletes can pair with another fitness athlete, a figure competitor, bodybuilder or even a friend or family member who does not compete in any other division. There is no symmetry or posing round for this division. It is just meant to be an entertaining routine that you enjoy performing. Click here for details.
