1. *CATEGORY COMPARISON - HELP WITH CHOOSING YOUR CATEGORY

Whether you are a newcomer to competitions or a past athlete who was competitive during your school days, the FAME World Tour events offer something for everyone. Choosing a category in which to compete is relatively easy and can be based on:

  1. A.Type of Physique:

The best thing to do is to first set a realistic goal on what you envision as your ideal physique. Based on that you can narrow down your choices (and sculpt your body accordingly).

    * Very muscular with muscle mass:  Bodybuilding  & Muscle Model

    * Feminine Muscle  - Muscular with some muscle mass:  Figure

    * Lean & toned with some muscle:  Fitness & Fitness Model

    * Shapely with some tone:  Bikini Model
    * Any Shape:  Dance, Routines Only

  1. B. Routine or No Routine:

The next step is deciding if you’d like to perform an individual routine as part of your performance.  If you are an entertainer, an artist or have a special talent (dance, martial arts, gymnastics, cheer etc), then we would encourage you to select a category that requires a routine.  If you’re up for the added challenge and/or are seeking the ‘spotlight’ then a routine category is definitely the way to go as you have ample stage time alone.  Plus they are a lot of fun and often get you remembered!

    * Routine Categories Include:  Bodybuilding  ~ Fitness ~ Figure – Pairs - Routines Only - Dance

  1. C. Required Strength &/or Flexibility Moves or No Required Moves:

The Routine Categories have different requirements Figure is great for talented and strong individuals since demonstrations of Strength are required. Those who have the strength as well as flexibility and high endurance should consider Fitness as all those components are mandatory. Bodybuilding and Pairs Categories allow for any type of movement although there are none that are necessary.

    * Required Moves:  Fitness (strength, flexibility, endurance)  ~  Figure (strength)
    * No Required Moves:  Bodybuilding ~ Pairs ~ Dance ~ Routines Only

  1. D.Type of Posing:

When your physique is looking it’s best you have the option to display the results of your dedication and hard work through a series of mandatory poses (Bodybuilding & Figure)  &/or via modeling your physique in different outfits (Model Categories & Fitness).

The Mandatory Poses allow you to showcase your physique, musculature and symmetry in its finest form. To the audience your body is now on exhibit as a canvas of perfectly sculpted art.  Judges are looking for proper execution  and stances.

Physique Modeling is much more relaxed and athletes are welcome to add their personality and personal touch to their walk and turns.   Sometimes first time competitors choose the model categories as their first step prior to the categories with routines &/or mandatory posing.

    * Posing Categories Include:  Bodybuilding (Muscle) ~ Figure
    * Physique Modeling Categories:  Bikini Model ~ Fitness Model ~ Muscle Model
    * No Posing or Modeling:  Pairs ~ Routines Only ~ Dance

BENEFITS TO COMPETE IN MULTIPLE CATEGORIES

Many athletes choose to compete in more than one Category (eg. Fitness and Fitness Model) and/or in more than one Division in a Category (eg. Bodybuilding junior & Open).

A. Exposure:

Many athletes compete in these events specifically to get recognition and the opportunity to get discovered.  Different scouts, companies, sponsors, agents and media typically attend the event or various portions of the show.  The more you are seen on stage the more chances you have of being spotted.   Each category allows you to highlight a different element of your physique and personality.   So if you’re using the stage as a means to reach to get discovered and/or to further your career in this industry, it is highly recommended that you participate in more than one category or division.

B. Great Pictures:

Aside from competing, preparing for competition allows you to sculpt the physique you dream of. Once you’re in peak shape it’s very beneficial to capture photographs of yourself in the multitude of outfits worn in the various divisions.  This is great for the memories as well as for your own promotions.

C. More Opportunities to Win:

Even if you’re not fully confidant that the second category is the ideal one for you, it’s worth giving it a go.  At the events you are competing only against those people who sign up for that category so depending on who else shows, and what they bring to the stage, you may place better than expected.

D.  Helps Determine Which Category is Best Suited for You:

Some categories require athletes to come in looking more lean or more muscular, and some categories are more laid back and less intense. Competing in the various categories will then allow you to see what you enjoy most (by way of actual contest prep &/or stage performance) so that you can fine tune your training for future events.

E. Save $$$$:

There is a significant discount in the entry fees for the second and third categories.  Plus you do not have to purchase another WNSO membership. Overall, additional categories signifies more added value.

F. Gain Experience:

Each time you are on stage you gain invaluable experience that will help you for your next show. If your goal is to be super confident on stage and to be able to perform at your ultimate best, then more experience you rack up in the shortest amount of time is an asset.

G. More Fun!

The general consensus is that once you compete, you’ll catch the ‘competition bug’.  Whether you are striving to reach certain goals or if you just to prove to yourself you could do it, you’ll leave the competition with new friends and a whole new experience.  Competing in multiple categories allows you to enjoy even more of the ‘backstage’ and ‘stage’ excitement.

Considerations to Competing in More than 1 Category:

Time: For all shows the event schedule is determined to try to allow for as much time as possible for the athletes to prepare for their next round.  For those who are competing in multiple categories the time in between rounds may be less in some instances. However, when selecting your competitor number you can choose to go first or last in a certain category to allow you for more time. Being that it’s a competition, athletes typically get ready pretty fast anyhow. In cases where you feel you need extra time you should let the stage manager know as there usually is something that can be done to help accommodate.

Routines: For athletes who are competing in more than one division which each require a routine (eg. Bodybuilding – masters & advanced or Fitness & Figure), the athlete has the option to either create a new routine or reuse the points from the same routine.  The choice is up to the athlete.

COMPETITION DIVISIONS:

The shows are divided up into the following Divisions.  Please refer to your specific Category (Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure, Model) to see which divisions apply in your show:

  1. A.Experience Divisions:

The FAME World Tour offers competition for athletes of all experience levels. Those who have never competed before would enter into Level 1, or the Novice Division for newcomers to FAME.  More experienced athletes would work their way up the 5 - Level Competition Tier System to compete as Open (Level 2), Advanced (Level 3), Elite (Level 4) and ultimately PRO (Level 5) athlete.

  2. B.Age Divisions:

Athletes of all ages are encouraged to compete in the FAME World Tour.  We’ve see athletes as young as 12 compete in Fitness and as old as 88 compete in Bodybuilding!  These divisions are ‘General Divisions’ where only they can compete.

Junior Athletes -  Teenagers and youth are encouraged to use competition as a way to build confidence and an identity     during these important years.  Competing also lets them set an attainable goal and keeps them motivated and healthy in both mind and body.

Masters Athletes - For those who are older, becoming focused in the gym and starting to pay attention to eating habits is very beneficial in attaining and maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.  The year 2007 saw the launch of the Masters Pro Class that is reserved only for those exceptional athletes who have won the overall title in the Masters, Grandmasters, & Super Grandmasters divisions and can now compete as a Pro Athlete.

  1. C.Height Divisions:

Athletes competing in Level 2 and beyond will be divided into height classes when there are at least 6 athletes in a class.  In an event where there is a big skew of athletes the height cutoff may be altered to more evenly divide up the classes.
